INTERVIEWS - FEBRUARY 22

Q&A with Mi Piaci Muse: Roxie Mohebbi

In celebration of our AW22 collection 'Together', we sat down with Mi Piaci Muse, Roxie Mohebbi to talk about her journey as an actress, redefining courage, what it means to be a modern-day heroine and more.

Mi Piaci AW22 'Together' celebrates the heroines in us all and embraces the bonds of Kinship. What do you think it means to be a modern heroine?  R: I think that being a 'heroine' is an increasingly complicated role. There are so many versions of what that could look like so ultimately I think it's about being brave - and doing your best wherever you can.

You have come from a long line of strong powerful women. Matriarchal inheritance of strength, courage and resilience - What does courage mean to you?
R: Courage feels really uncomfortable most of the time. I was taught that courage was to do the right thing even if it was hard or scary - because it's better to be scared of being courageous than be comfortable with being complicit.

You are a formidable force on Shortland street, Can you tell us about your journey into acting? R: I went to university to study nursing and after doing that for a couple years I quickly realized that the health system was a really tough place to work. I had always wanted to work in film & fashion so decided to just take the plunge - got myself an agent and about 5 years of trial and error finally learnt the ropes. And here we are!

Being a Mi Piaci Muse, Do you have any Muses you look up to?
R: Michaela Cole, Viola Davis, Arundhati Roy.... my mum, my grandmother, every woman in my ancestral line.

Keynotes this season are individuality and inclusivity - what do these mean to you?
R: The absence of fear and judgement, seeing the world around us accurately reflected in the media we consume, equal opportunity, equal outcomes, a healthy planet, peace.

Favourite AW22 style?  R: Metallic Blue Archie - say no more!!

Nurse, Actress, Model! Your talents are endless. What is next for Roxie?
R: Haha! I'm focusing on my film work at the moment with some projects coming up... excited to learn and play.

Best advice you've received?  R: Gratitude is the key to happiness!

Currently, reading?  R: The ministry of utmost happiness

Favourite dish to cook?  R: Pho
