INTERVIEWS - MARCH 22

Q&A with Mi Piaci Muse: Jessica Clarke

In celebration of our AW22 collection 'Together', we sat down with Mi Piaci Muse, Jessica Clarke to talk about her journey as an international model, health and wellness advocate, what it means to be a Mi Piaci muse and more.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?  J: My name's Jess, I’ve been a model since I was 15, worked and lived all over the world. I loved it but I always wanted to start a business and COVID weirdly gave me the opportunity to do so, so here I am back in NZ after 10 years.

Having staring walking the runway at 15 for some of the biggest brands in the world, was there a particular moment that stands out in your modelling journey?  J: Victoria’s Secret is always the one people like to hear about since it’s mainstream. But I always had these moments when I found myself in the thick of the fashion industry in a designer's workroom in a busy city like New York and those were the moments I’ll remember forever.

What does ‘Together’ mean to you?  J: The word together makes me think of love and friendship and the things that we share that bring us together.

You are a strong advocate for health and wellness, being the co-founder of Mother Made - can you tell us some wellness practices you swear by?  J: Water and sleep. Burning the candle at both ends is fun but your body will be good to you if you give it what it needs. Water, sleep and good food. If you do use supplements, go natural. Medicinal Mushrooms are exceptional superfoods that work so effectively at keeping you balanced and as a result happy ❤️

Being a Mi Piaci Muse, Do you have any Muses you look up to?  J: This season can look cool on anyone and also can really bring an individual’s look together. Jane Birkin has always been one of my muses for her effortless style, from her hairstyle to her shoes.

Best advice you've received?  J: It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice
